ABOUT JOEL SPENCERAs a teenager, a Hire-A-Youth employment program became a turning point for Joel, showing him how work could provide structure, dignity, and an honest path forward. He went on to spend 10 years in private-sector corporate sales, followed by 18 years of public service. Today, he serves in a frontline leadership role with the City of San Diego and works as an author, speaker, and facilitator.A former union steward and elected union vice president, Joel has experienced workplace decisions from three sides of the table: employee, labor representative, and management leader.Over the years, he saw people squander promising opportunities through impulsive decisions they often later regretted. That pattern inspired Joel to create Protect the Opportunity™, a practical behavioral decision-making program addressing the key failure points that can derail employment, advancement, or a second chance. He founded Spencer Workforce Group to help people reach their potential, protect their opportunities, and build lasting careers.EXPLORE INSTITUTIONAL FITThis complimentary 15-minute introductory conversation is an opportunity to discuss your audience, priorities, and program needs and explore whether Protect Your Opportunity™ may be a good fit.The workshop is built around a simple principle: Protect the Opportunity™—helping participants navigate high-pressure workplace moments and avoid impulsive decisions that can derail employment, advancement, or a second chance.
